A Double Stock 1000 Win at Barber Motorsports Park

Hayden Gillim is Undefeated at Barber Motorsports Park!

Hayden Gillim has set a high bar for the 2024 MotoAmerica Stock 1000 championship by securing two wins at Barber Motorsports Park.

Dallas, Texas, May 21, 2024: The MotoAmerica Superbikes event at Barber Motorsports Park, held from May 17–19, 2024, in Birmingham, AL, marked the beginning of Hayden Gillim’s defense of his 2023 Stock 1000 title. Riding his Real Steel Motorsports Steel Commander/Comstock Energy/Southern Honda Powersports/American Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, Gillim claimed two decisive victories in the Stock 1000 class. Additionally, he achieved commendable finishes of P8, P7, and P5 in the Superbike class while competing on a Stock 1000 spec machine.

Gillim’s weekend started strong with a pole position in the Stock 1000 races, making him the only rider in the class to achieve a time in the 1:24’s. Despite a slow start in the first race on Saturday that placed him in 4th, he quickly regained his momentum, took the lead by lap three, and finished with an 11.5-second lead. In Sunday’s Race 2, he dominated by leading every lap and finishing 10.5 seconds ahead of the second-place rider. Gillim now leads the series with a perfect score of 50 points as it heads to Brainerd International Raceway from June 14-16.

In the Superbike class, Gillim qualified 8th with a time of 1:23.694, securing a third-row start. He maintained his position to finish 8th in Saturday’s Race 1. On Sunday, he improved to 7th in Race 2 and 5th in Race 3. With 43 points, Gillim currently holds 7th place in the Superbike standings after two events.

This achievement is supported by Steel Commander Corp., Southern Honda Powersports, American Honda, Comstock Energy LLC, Vesrah, Maxima Racing Oils, Fast Line Track Days, KTech suspension, Orient Express, Dunlop, GB Racing, and REB Graphics.

Hayden Gillim – Rider #1 and #69: “This weekend went as well as it possibly could have. Maybe I could have finished one spot higher in Race 2 of the Superbike, but that’s about it. The team performed excellently with no issues. I’m very proud of what we achieved.”

“Our sponsors – Steel Commander, Southern Honda Powersports, Comstock Energy, Honda Racing, and all the others – have been crucial to this success. I’m excited for the rest of the season, and we’ve shown that we’re here to win. The Honda Fireblade is an incredible machine!”

Mark Junge – Crew Chief: “The Honda CBR 1000RR-R Fireblade SP has proven to be a formidable competitor in the MotoAmerica Stock 1000 class for 2024. We’re still early in developing our racing package, and it’s only going to get better.”
